Gerard Dunleavy

Gerard Dunleavy is a manager in the health policy team at Economist Impact. He manages global engagements with international clients in the health-care sector, from conceptualising to delivering and executing customised research projects. He manages multidisciplinary teams, conducting both quantitative and qualitative analyses, across a broad range of disease areas and health policies.

Prior to joining Economist Impact, Mr Dunleavy worked in academic settings specialising in evidence-based synthesis and epidemiological studies. He holds a PhD in public health and epidemiology and a master’s degree in health education and promotion, both from Maastricht University.

Keren Priyadarshini

Regional business lead, worldwide health

Microsoft Asia

As regional business lead of worldwide health for Microsoft Asia, Keren Priyadarshini leads the company’s health-care business segment across 17 markets in Asia-Pacific. Dr Priyadarshini is responsible for driving and implementing Microsoft’s health-care initiatives across the region as well as developing solution offerings and strategies that meet the needs of health-care and life-science customers. She also plays a leading role in establishing thought leadership by defining and articulating the company’s vision for the future of health care and sharing how Microsoft technologies and partner solutions are making it a reality.

Dr Priyadarshini is passionate about empowering providers, payors and life-science companies with the right technology to enable better patient outcomes at lower costs. Improving the quality of health care through digital transformation, enabling wider access to health care as life expectancy increases and keeping rising costs in check are issues that keep her awake at night.

She moved to Singapore almost 15 years ago and has been instrumental in establishing the Asia-Pacific business for multinational health-care companies such as GfK and Truven Health. Before joining Microsoft, Dr Priyadarshini was the Asia-Pacific vice-president of sales for Truven Health Analytics, part of IBM Watson Health, where she pioneered the adoption of Watson in the region.

Dr Priyadarshini graduated as a fellow from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, where she completed her doctorate in business management.

Sinthia Bosnic-Anticevich

Australia

Sinthia Bosnic-Anticevich is a medical researcher, respiratory pharmacist and professor at the University of Sydney, Australia. She is a widely renowned expert in respiratory medicines and their use. Specifically, her research focuses on optimising the use of respiratory medicines to improve the health outcome of patients. She is the founder and head of the Quality Use of Respiratory Medicines Group at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research and the University of Sydney and is extensively involved in respiratory associations such as the Respiratory Effectiveness Group (REG) and Allergic Rhinitis in Asthma (ARIA). Additionally, she sits on the editorial board of several prestigious international journals and advisory boards for the pharmaceutical industry, related to the use of medicines for respiratory disease management. Throughout her career, Ms Bosnic-Anticevich has contributed to over 200 research publications, which have led to the development of international and national guidelines and standards for the use of inhalers for respiratory conditions such as asthma, COPD and allergic rhinitis.

Feisul Idzwan Mustapha

Malaysia

Feisul Mustapha is a consultant public health physician best known for his leadership in the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Malaysia. His special areas of interest include diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancers and obesity. At the Ministry of Health, Malaysia, he is the deputy director (NCDs) in the Disease Control Division, and his main roles include policy and programme development, and strategic implementation of interventions for the prevention and control of NCDs. In addition, Dr Feisul has a special interest in leveraging technology to catalyse behavioural modification to reduce the exposure to NCD risk factors.

He combines his high-level experiences in the government with active engagement in civil-society and multilateral institutions. Dr Feisul is currently chair of the Scientific Advisory Group for the Monash University South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO). In addition, he is an advisory board member of the United Nations University International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) and a member of the policy advisory group of the World Cancer Research Fund International (WCRF).

Kristine Whorlow

First vice-president

Global Allergy and Airways Patient Platform

Kristine is the inaugural CEO of the National Asthma Council Australia (NAC), now retired. She is the Vice President, Global Allergy and Asthma Patient Platform and an Australian Government Nominee on the Medical and Technical Options Committee of the Montreal Protocol under the UN Environment Program. Her commitment is to asthma and allergy patients and to the primary care practitioners who treat them. Consultation, communication and coordination between all stakeholders are her principles for improving asthma care.

She has extensive involvement in Asia Pacific, having facilitated the GP Asia Pacific Advisory Board and GP Asia Pacific Paediatric Advisory Board. Also, having been an advisor to the Asthma Council Malaysia, Bangladesh Lung Foundation, National Asthma Council Sri Lanka, Taiwan Asthma Council and the Korea Asthma and Allergy Foundation. In working to establish these organisations and advising those in other countries, she was able to offer guidance and the experience of the NAC programs, including the development of the Australian asthma guidelines, as potential models for adaptation in the varying health systems and health priorities.

In 2016 she was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for improving health outcomes for those with asthma in Australia and Asia Pacific.

Marcio Zanetti

Marcio Zanetti is the country leader for Brazil at Economist Impact. He has extensive experience in management and research consulting for multinational corporations in the Latin American region. His areas of expertise are financial forecasting modelling, strategic due diligence, organisational impact assessment, strategic planning and development, market sizing and market entry strategy, investment analysis, and risk assessment. Mr Zanetti has deep knowledge of health-care and financial markets. He has wide international exposure, having developed projects in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Italy, Mexico, Spain and Ukraine. He has a BA in marketing and holds an MBA from William E Simon Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Rochester, US. Mr Zanetti speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish.

Désirée Larenas-Linnemann

Désirée Larenas-Linnemann became director of the Centre of Excellence in Asthma and Allergy at the Hospital Médica Sur, Mexico City, in 2017.

Dr Larenas-Linnemann has co-ordinated the National Guidelines on Asthma (2021 and 2017), atopic dermatitis (2022 and 2018), immunotherapy (2019 and 2011), urticaria (2014), ARIA México (2014) and consensus on FeNO (2020), developing each guideline with experts of national societies. She is ARIA country co-ordinator (since 2012), GINA international council member (since 2019) and advocate to GINA for Mexico (since 2020). She is an expert panel member of the EAACI/GA²LEN/EDF/WAO urticaria guideline update 2020. She is or has been committee chair at EAACI, AAAAI, ACAAI, SLAAI and CMICA. She has published over 190 articles in peer-reviewed journals, is reviewer for seven journals and is a renowned lecturer. She is also a national investigator level II.

Dr Larenas-Linnemann received her MD cum laude in 1992 from the Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht, Netherlands, and became a paediatrician (1995) and paediatric allergist (1997) in Mexico.

Pierluigi Paggiaro

Professor of pulmonary diseases, Department of Surgery, Medicine, Molecular Biology, and Critical Care

Pierluigi is a full professor of pulmonary diseases at the University of Pisa and was the Director of the Physiopathology and Respiratory Unit until 2018. A prominent researcher in the field of airway diseases, Pierluigi has over 320 publications in international scientific journals. He has extensive clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases such as asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, interstitial diseases, and pneumonia. He has been the Principal investigator of several phase 2-phase 3 clinical trials in asthma, COPD and bronchiectasis, and director of several research projects funded by the Italian Ministry of Health, Italian Agency of the Drug (AIFA), Tuscany Region and pharmaceutical companies.

Between 2005 and 2015, he was a member of the Board of Directors of GINA International, and Chairman of the GINA Mediterranean Initiative. Till now, he serves as the Chairman of the GINA Italy Initiative. He is also heavily involved with the European Respiratory Society and other prominent Italian and international networks for airway diseases.

Pierluigi graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pisa in 1972. He then obtained postgraduate qualifications in Occupational Medicine, Respiratory Medicine and Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and has completed post-doctoral fellowships at the University of British Columbia and at the San Francisco General Hospital.

Hugo Neffen

Hugo Neffen is director of the Centre of Allergy, Immunology and Respiratory Diseases, Santa Fe (Argentina); GINA advocate (2020–23); and vice chair of ARIA Argentina. Dr Neffen was a professor of pharmacology at the faculty of medical sciences, National University of Rosario (Argentina), and of allergology and clinical immunology at the faculty of medicine of the University of Navarra (Spain).

He was president of INTERASMA; director of the ALAT Asthma Department; president of AAAeIC (Argentine Association of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology); and GINA asthma ambassador (2015).

Dr Neffen graduated from the School of Medicine, National University of Rosario (Argentina), with the degree of medical surgeon in 1973. In 1978, he obtained a degree in medicine from the faculty of medicine of the University of Navarra (Spain). He is an allergist and clinical immunologist.
